Financial Reporting Specialist

Evonik is a leading producer of C4 chemicals with over 50 years of experience. The company's C4 Chemicals business unit was spun off in 2023 and is currently preparing for independence.
We produce precursors for plastics, coatings, lubricants, and specialty chemicals at our plants in Marl and Antwerp. Our focus is on resource-saving production and the use of new technologies.
As a Financial Reporting Specialist, you will play a key role in shaping the future of Evonik's C4 Chemicals business unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including notes and management reports, in accordance with IFRS and HGB.
- Monitor the provisioning and posting of provisions based on expert opinions, including personnel provisions and pensions.
- Ensure the continuous reconciliation of balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Prepare the balance sheet in accordance with IFRS 16 (leasing/rental) and carry out analyses and reports for the company and management.
- Act as a cross-departmental contact person for internal and external departments, such as Controlling and auditors.
- Advise operational departments and Controlling in the area of accounting.
- Review legal requirements and ensure compliance.
- Support ongoing audits by the tax authorities and contribute to special projects.
Requirements:
- Completed academic university degree in a relevant field, such as accounting or finance.
- Several years of professional experience in a leading position in a company, preferably in the chemical industry.
- Diplomatic skills in dealing with various stakeholders.
- Ability to develop new ideas and try out new approaches, paired with a hands-on mentality.
- Strengths in the implementation of concepts.
- Very good communication skills and written and oral expression skills in German and English.
- Holistic thinking in terms of storytelling and an independent, structured, and goal-oriented way of working.
