Lead Outdoor Design Director

About this role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Director to lead the design direction of our technical apparel and footwear within the Outdoor category. As a key member of our team, you will champion our brand's overall creative direction and expression while driving a distinctive and recognizable consumer product proposition for the outdoor category within the industry.
You will be responsible for leading the overall global design function for the category, located in Herzogenaurach. This is a high-profile role that requires strong leadership skills, vision, and expertise in product design.
Main responsibilities
- Develop and communicate a global brand design philosophy aligned to our Brand DNA for all product categories
- Lead global long-term and seasonal product design direction which includes pre-season concepting
- Manage the design creation process for the category from concept to finished product
- Collaborate with our Comms, Product, Development and Merchandising teams to create a cohesive collection and plans that meets the needs of the business
- Build and lead a high-performance team, providing coaching and development opportunities
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes excellence
- Secure a proper and appropriate use of brand technology across different areas
- Ensure clearly articulated design direction and identity for the products and concepts that creates iconic status and wins awards
- Stay up-to-date on consumers, cultural trends, sports culture, and athletic findings
What we offer
This role comes with a competitive salary of $180,000 per year, based on industry standards and your experience. You will also have access to a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (4 years) from a college/university in Industrial Design or Art / minimum of 10 years of experience in the respective field or an equivalent combination out of education and experience
- At least 5 years of experience leading Design teams
- Practical experience in the field of Design, including management experience
- Comprehensive knowledge in product design with a clear understanding of the athletics market and its culture
- Practical knowledge in the field of computer design software/systems and MS Office
- Fluency in English
