We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join our team at the Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (DKFZ) in Heidelberg, Germany. As a PhD student in bioinformatics, you will contribute to our translational research program focused on cancer of unknown primary (CUP) and develop computational tools to improve tissue-of-origin prediction and molecular classification.
Your Responsibilities- Participate in the development of computational tools for tissue-of-origin prediction and molecular classification
- Work with large CUP datasets and collaborate with clinical cancer researchers and molecular biologists
- Establish novel projects in tumor classification and pathophysiological characterization
- Expand potential applications beyond tissue-of-origin prediction and molecular classification
- Master's degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, biostatistics, computer science, or a related field
- Strong bioinformatics analytical skills and experience with Linux/Unix command line and programming languages such as R and Python
- Ability to acquire and process data from sequencing facilities or public resources
- Profound knowledge of cancer biology and cancer genomics is a plus
- Excellent framework conditions, including state-of-the-art equipment and opportunities for international networking
