vor 3 Wochen

Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, Deutschland DKFZ Vollzeit

The Division of Clinical Epidemiology and Aging Research at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) is seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join their team. The successful candidate will work on a project funded by the MiCCrobioTAckle Network, a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action (MSCA) Doctoral Network focused on training doctoral candidates across disciplines and sectors to advance microbiota medicine as a new clinical approach to treat diseases.

The project aims to characterize cancer cachexia in colorectal cancer and investigate clinically relevant microbiome traits in cachexia patients with colorectal cancer. The PhD student will help coordinate an ongoing longitudinal study of colorectal cancer patients and gut microbiome characterization, and explore associations with detailed demographic, lifestyle and clinical records, as well as health-related outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in epidemiology, public health, medicine, pathology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, natural or life sciences, and experience in the analysis of gut microbiome or multi-omics data. They will also have good knowledge of statistics and epidemiological data analysis, and the ability to work independently and reliably.

The DKFZ offers excellent framework conditions, including state-of-the-art equipment and opportunities for international networking at the highest level. The PhD student will also have access to international research networks, a doctoral salary with the usual social benefits, and 30 days of vacation per year.

The DKFZ International PhD Program and DKFZ Career Service will provide targeted training and mentoring to help the PhD student reach their full potential. The Corporate Health Management Program offers a holistic approach to well-being, and the Germany job ticket provides subsidized travel to work.
