PhD Student for Microbiome Research Position

The Division of Clinical Epidemiology and Aging Research at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) is seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join their team in a project focused on microbiota medicine.
The project, funded by the MiCCrobioTAckle Network, aims to advance microbiota medicine research and clinical application. The successful candidate will contribute to the characterization of cancer cachexia in colorectal cancer and investigate clinically relevant microbiome traits in cachexia patients with colorectal cancer.
The PhD student will work closely with the research team to coordinate an ongoing longitudinal study of colorectal cancer patients and gut microbiome characterization. The project involves the analysis of gut microbiome and multi-omics data, as well as the exploration of associations with demographic, lifestyle, and clinical records, and health-related outcomes.
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in epidemiology, public health, medicine, pathology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, natural or life sciences, and experience in the analysis of gut microbiome or multi-omics data. Strong knowledge of statistics and epidemiological data analysis is also required.
