Research Opportunity in Cancer Genomics

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join our team at the Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (DKFZ) in Heidelberg, Germany. As a PhD student in bioinformatics, you will contribute to our translational research program focused on cancer of unknown primary (CUP) and develop computational tools to improve tissue-of-origin prediction and molecular classification.

Your Responsibilities
  • Participate in the development of computational tools for tissue-of-origin prediction and molecular classification
  • Analyze large CUP datasets and collaborate with clinical cancer researchers and molecular biologists
  • Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Contribute to the advancement of cancer genomics and bioinformatics research
Requirements
  • Master's degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, biostatistics, computer science, or a related field
  • Strong bioinformatics analytical skills and experience with Linux/Unix command line and programming languages such as R and Python
  • Ability to acquire and process data from sequencing facilities or public resources
  • Profound knowledge of cancer biology and cancer genomics is a plus
