Employee Relations Specialist Germany (m/w/d), Frankfurt am Main
You will play a key role in shaping our company culture and ensuring a positive work environment for all employees in Germany.
As an Employee Relations Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting all employee relations projects in Germany, collaborating with the works council, and providing expertise to business leaders and colleagues.
Our Colleague & Labor Relations department (CLR) is part of the wider Human Resources team at American Express. We work closely with business leaders, the Country Executive Team, and other departments to drive business results and support our colleagues.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and supporting the works council consultation on various initiatives, such as new IT systems, compensation programs, and re-organizations.
- Providing guidance on collective and individual labor law aspects for Germany and supporting Austria as needed.
- Developing and updating works council agreements, contract templates, and guidelines.
- Managing local Health and Safety activities.
- Identifying trends and implementing proactive solutions for the lines of business.
- Supporting the management of disciplinary cases.
- Participating in global CLR initiatives and projects.
What you bring:
- University degree in law (Staatsexamen) or a related field, with at least 4 years of experience in employee relations or HR generalist roles, and/or labor law expertise.
- Advanced knowledge of German collective and individual labor law.
- Experience working with German works councils, preferably in a highly matrixed multi-national environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to focus on both detail and broader implications of issues.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Fluency in German and English (written and verbal).
