About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join our team at METRO Markets GmbH. As a Tax Manager, you will play a crucial role in shaping our tax strategies and ensuring compliance with VAT regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive tax advice to our e-commerce operations, focusing on VAT considerations and general tax counsel for European expansion plans.
  • Develop strong partnerships with METRO AG's tax department and affiliated METRO companies' tax units, ensuring seamless coordination and adherence to best practices.
  • Work autonomously, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to align tax strategies with operational objectives.
  • Lead decisively, making informed decisions, taking ownership, and steering projects towards successful outcomes.
  • Evaluate business risk, understand the risk-reward ratio, and demonstrate situational and relationship-based thinking in handling complex situations.
Requirements
  • At least 6 years of professional experience in a tax department, with a focus on VAT.
  • Strong expertise in national and international VAT governance.
  • Strong expertise in international tax law.
  • Ability to break down complex matters and communicate effectively to various audiences.
  • Completed degree in economics or law, with a focus on taxation.
  • Structured, independent, and reliable work style.
  • Proven team player with a dynamic work environment.
  • Fluent level in English and German, with additional languages beneficial.
