Strategic Commodity Procurement Specialist, EU

Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Commodity Buyer to join our Global Purchasing Team in Europe. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing purchasing strategies, negotiating with suppliers, and managing the supply base for plastics commodities.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement purchasing strategies to meet business objectives and commodity roadmaps.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure the best possible prices and terms.
- Manage the supply base for plastics commodities, ensuring compliance with purchasing policy and internal safety and environment rules.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through negotiation, resource utilization, and process improvement.
- Support the divisions in case of supplier escalations and perform coordination activities between suppliers and divisions.
- Evaluate potential new suppliers and develop target costing for plastic parts.
- Identify and promote process improvements in purchasing.
- Keep reporting updated on important KPIs and data.
- Conduct regular benchmarks and commercial negotiations in alignment with commodity strategy and divisions.
- 3-5 years' progressive experience in purchasing, preferably in an automotive or manufacturing environment.
- Previous commodity experience, including plastics, is mandatory.
- Experience and proven success in strategic and operational purchasing of direct and indirect materials.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 20% of the time.
- Excellent English skills are mandatory.
- Advanced Excel skills are appreciated.
- Ability to lead functionally and motivate a team of divisional buyers.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting to top management.
- Self-driven person who is always seeking improvements.
- Positive attitude and ability to stay calm in complicated situations.
Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, engineering, business, or related discipline.
