Group Overview

Position Overview

As part of the Global Purchasing Organization, you will play a key role in formulating and executing Purchasing Strategies aligned with the objectives set by the Global Commodity Director and Regional Commodity Lead. You will be responsible for sourcing decisions, negotiations, and managing supplier relationships within the framework of our purchasing policies and ethical standards.

We are currently seeking a Strategic Commodity Buyer, EU (Plastics) (m/w/x) to enhance our Global Purchasing Team in Europe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate effective Purchasing Strategies
  • Compile a list of potential suppliers, conduct negotiations, and prepare recommendations for New Business Awards
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through negotiations, resource optimization, and innovative technologies
  • Support divisions during supplier escalations, including shortages and quality issues, and facilitate communication between suppliers and divisions
  • Assess the capabilities of new suppliers
  • Prepare target costing for plastic components in collaboration with the Purchasing team
  • Drive improvements in existing and new Purchasing processes
  • Maintain updated reports on critical KPIs and data
  • Conduct regular benchmarks and negotiations in line with commodity strategies
  • Provide training to divisional buyers on commodity fundamentals

Candidate Profile

  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in Purchasing, specifically in Plastics within an automotive or manufacturing context
  • Experience with commodity management, particularly in Plastics, is essential; knowledge of Resins is a plus
  • Demonstrated success in strategic and operational purchasing of both direct and indirect materials
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 20% of the time
  • Fluent in English; advanced Excel skills are advantageous
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire a team of divisional buyers
  • Strong communication skills for effective presentations to senior management
  • Self-motivated with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Positive demeanor and resilience in challenging situations

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, engineering, business, or a related field.
