We believe that there are suitable buyers for surplus and perfectly edible food in the supply chain - whether producers, retailers, canteens, or non-profit organizations. As the Head of Business Development, you will lead our SPRK Marketplace and its team. You will have the strategic and operational responsibility for partnerships, deals, company revenues, and the expansion of the digital SPRK Marketplace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive revenue growth and scaling according to budget and strategy goals, defining and implementing measures to achieve goals in close coordination with the CEO and SPRK Management
  • Conceptualize and develop the digital product in close collaboration with the Product Team, ensuring seamless integration and user experience
  • Strategically lead partnerships - expanding the SPRK Marketplace with its commercial transaction platform, fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Operational overall responsibility for ongoing processes, transactions in day-to-day business (matchmaking between surplus and buyers), and active participation or takeover of responsibility for individual deals
  • Build new partnerships and expand existing partners, establishing a professional and winning Key Account Management
  • Effectively lead and develop the team, steering and role-modeling function to drive business success
Requirements
  • You have at least 10 years of relevant work experience and proven success in the field of Business Development and partner management, at least 3 years in a strategic leadership role with team responsibility
  • You are a passionate and results-driven professional who systematically approaches and wins large accounts, secures deals, and takes responsibility for transactions
  • You have previous experience in the food industry, strategic purchasing, or have worked in a leading Sales or Business Development role in a Food Start-Up
  • You are a top communicator and engage the team and customers for you and the commercial SPRK activities under your responsibility
  • You speak and write fluent German and English

Food waste is a significant issue, with 10 percent of greenhouse gases caused solely by it. Globally, 2.5 billion tons of food are wasted annually, with 12-20 million tons in Germany alone.

As the Berlin Impact Startup SPRK, we aim to eliminate food waste in the supply chain worldwide and significantly reduce the corresponding climate damage.

We do this by building an AI-driven trading and distribution platform for surplus food, enabling rapid and demand-oriented redistribution among the stakeholders in the supply chain.
