Role Overview

Handshake is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Finance & Controlling Working Student to support our financial operations within the EMEA region. This position will involve collaboration with both internal and external partners, engaging in financial processes essential for a global scale-up, and playing a key role in enhancing the financial performance of Handshake.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the accounting functions within our EMEA region and take on various responsibilities in these domains.
  • Participate actively in daily business operations to gain a thorough insight into our financial workflows.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes, forecasts, and budgeting activities.
  • Identify opportunities for process automation and digitalization to enhance our finance, controlling, and accounting frameworks.

Required Qualifications

  • Proficient in both German and English.
  • Currently enrolled in a business administration program with a concentration in accounting, finance, controlling, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in accounting, finance, or similar areas through internships or student roles is advantageous.
  • Solid grasp of accounting principles, concepts, and standards, with a keen interest in controlling.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Microsoft Excel, with familiarity in VBA and various controlling systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both German and English.
  • Ability to work independently and reliably.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective time management skills, capable of meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.
