ResponsibilitiesAs a specialist in patent law, you will oversee the intellectual property landscape of a ZEISS division, providing guidance on business decisions related to IP.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing grant procedures in collaboration with patent attorneys in Germany and internationally, and occasionally conducting these procedures independently.
- Evaluating third-party rights and defending against them by managing opposition procedures before the EPO and DPMA.
- Advising development teams on third-party property rights to ensure their proper consideration.
- Enforcing our IP rights against third parties through available legal actions domestically and internationally.
- Drafting contracts related to intellectual property rights and leading contract negotiations.
We seek candidates with:
- A completed degree in a technical or scientific field (knowledge in optics is advantageous).
- Admission as a European Patent Attorney (or in the process of obtaining it).
- Relevant professional experience in technical intellectual property rights.
- Ideally, familiarity with foreign patent systems, particularly those of the USA and PR China.
- A meticulous working style, high level of abstraction, sense of responsibility, and excellent communication skills.
- The ability to articulate complex technical and legal concepts clearly in both German and English.
- Proficiency in German and English at C level (European Framework of Reference) is essential for daily tasks.
