Job Description

As a Patent Attorney, you will be responsible for managing the intellectual property portfolio of a ZEISS division. Your primary focus will be on advising colleagues on business decisions related to intellectual property, ensuring that our company's innovative products and services are protected and leveraged effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Intellectual Property Management: Manage grant procedures before IP offices in Germany and abroad, collaborating with patent attorneys as needed.
  • Third-Party Rights Evaluation: Assess and defend against third-party rights, conducting opposition procedures before the EPO and DPMA as required.
  • IP Advisory Services: Provide expert advice to development divisions on third-party property rights, ensuring their consideration in business decisions.
  • IP Enforcement: Enforce our company's IP rights against third parties, utilizing available legal actions domestically and internationally.
  • Contract Negotiation: Draft contracts related to intellectual property rights and negotiate with external parties.
Requirements:
  • Education: Successful completion of technical or scientific studies, with knowledge of optics being an advantage.
  • Professional Qualifications: Admission as a European Patent Attorney or in the process of obtaining it.
  • Experience: First relevant professional experience in connection with technical intellectual property rights.
  • Language Skills: Excellent knowledge of German and English, with a working method characterized by precision, abstraction, and excellent communication skills.
