Finance Manager, Accounting

Amazon's Munich office is seeking an experienced Finance Manager, Accounting to drive mission-critical financial operations and contribute to the company's success.

About the Role

This strategic position involves overseeing various aspects of accounting, compliance, and financial controls. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of financial integrity and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive and participate in national and international accounting projects
  • Worldwide business partnering within the Amazon group, liaising with Tax and Legal departments
  • Integration of new regions into existing processes
  • Responsibility for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing of financial books
  • Assessment and evaluation of GAAP to GAAP differences
  • Drive improvements in accounting processes, internal workflows, and the implementation of best practices
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • Strong knowledge in US-GAAP or IFRS and any other local GAAP
  • Several years of experience with an emphasis on accounting and financial reporting, preferably gained within a Big Four firm and/or a multinational organization
  • Excellent communication skills with fluent English
  • Proficient Microsoft Excel User
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause, and creating/implementing an escalation plan
  • Knowledge of GAAP research tools and the FASB codification
  • Demonstrated history of solving multiple and complex accounting and/or financial reporting challenges
  • Entrepreneurial, hands-on, can-do attitude and ability to think outside the box
