Job Title: Senior Manager Tax

About the Role:

The Senior Manager Tax will be responsible for leading the tax function in the EUROPE Region, ensuring timely and correct execution of all tax matters. This includes supervising tax compliance, developing strategy, and managing the effective tax rate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the local tax controlling, strategic planning, and compliance with local tax laws and adidas' internal policies.
  • Provide strategic advice on optimizing tax efficient structures in local operating units, impacting the local adidas P&L account.
  • Develop, communicate, and control the implementation of the global/regional tax strategy and related policies.
  • Manage working groups composed of internal staff and external resources in the Europe Countries.
  • Manage major tax audits, providing guidance on audit defense strategy and negotiating with local tax administrations.
  • Plan and execute effective tax risk management, including risk reporting, assessment, and minimization.
  • Participate in major decisions in the Europe Countries, such as contracts and initiatives.
  • Review compliance with global strategy and policies, as well as national regulations in the Europe Countries.
  • Evaluate the impact of changes in international and domestic law on adidas' tax position.
  • Provide guidance to finance directors and tax professionals on tax audits.
  • Align local practices with legal requirements to minimize tax exposure.
  • Optimize adidas' position regarding transfer pricing, VAT, corporate tax, wage tax, and customs valuation.

Key Relationships:

  • Internal: Sales, Finance, Legal & Compliance, Corporate Internal Audit, Global Shared Services Function, Stakeholders of cross-functional projects.
  • External: Tax authorities, Auditors, Commerce and economic department/bureau, Statutory and tax advisors/Service providers, Law firms.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong technical knowledge of international and German tax regulations, including tax declaration requirements.
  • Operative credibility and knowledge to understand business interests, function-specific issue identification capability, and trustful partnership mindset.
  • Professional communication and presentation skills, excellent negotiation skills, and experience with corporate accounting and reporting systems.
  • Fluent in English.

Requisite Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or above in finance/economics/taxation with professional qualification. Tax advisor exam preferred but not required.
  • 5-8 years of professional experience in a multinational group or Big4 Accounting firm.
