Position Overview

As a pivotal member of Verve's expansion journey, you will oversee the establishment of quality financial operations related to revenue, directly impacting business performance. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will collaborate with various finance and non-finance teams. Your role will involve implementing accounting procedures and controls to enhance revenue accounting and reporting. The ideal candidate is eager to grow with Verve and is prepared to support diverse business functions as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of revenue accounting, including reviewing and clarifying financial terms in contracts, ensuring compliance with group revenue recognition policies, and managing customer receivable reconciliations.
  • Lead the monthly and quarterly close processes related to revenue billing and reporting, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, and conducting customer-level reviews across all Verve entities to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Work closely with legal teams to maintain a comprehensive and audit-ready contract management system, actively tracking contracts and amendments for all clients.
  • Develop and sustain a detailed tracker for non-standard financial terms in contracts, ensuring accurate calculation and recording of rebates, revenue shares, and discounts in financial statements.
  • Streamline and automate revenue reporting through continuous collaboration with data, sales, and group controlling teams to align business intelligence reports with final accounting figures.
  • Document and enhance business processes and revenue accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.
  • Lead initiatives for cash collection within Verve to maintain healthy accounts receivable levels, fostering relationships with General Managers across various business units.
  • Continuously seek improvements and focus on simplifying and automating all revenue accounting processes.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of four Finance Operations Accountants.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, with CPA certification.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in Accounting, preferably in high-growth environments.
  • Experience leading a finance team for two to three years.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Prior experience with Netsuite or another major Accounting ERP.
  • Familiarity with revenue accounting practices, implementations, and processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to precision.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of SQL, Python, and experience in report automation.
