Job Opportunity:

The University of Siegen is seeking a researcher to join the Chair of Quantum Optics. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of groundbreaking methods to control trapped ions using high-frequency radiation.

About the Position:

This part-time position involves 75% of 29.87 hours per week, with a pay grade of 13 TV-L and a limited duration of 3 years. The researcher will focus on novel methods and techniques for quantum computers with trapped ions.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning, simulation, and construction of an innovative experimental apparatus
  • Preparing and carrying out experiments with trapped ions, data analysis, and publishing scientific results
  • Cooperation with national and international research partners and third-party funding agencies

Requirements:

  • Completed university studies in physics (diploma, Master of Science) with a grade equal to or better than "good" (German grading scheme)
  • Sound knowledge of quantum mechanics
  • High level of interest in the task at hand, exceptional commitment, and initiative
  • Willingness to work in an interdisciplinary team from the fields of physics, computer science, mathematics, and electrical engineering
  • Very good knowledge of English
