Columbus Ground Operations Specialist

Key ResponsibilitiesThe Ground Controller will be responsible for:
- Executing Ground Segment Operations for Columbus and ISS increment activities
- Providing support for docking, undocking, and video operations
- Managing communication services and operational lines
- Overseeing data, voice, video, and other subsystem operations
- Coordinating Columbus operations with the Flight Control Team and external partners
- Conducting real-time ground segment operations in accordance with established timelines and procedures
- Offering 24/7 operational support through shift work
The role includes:
- Providing Level 1 maintenance and troubleshooting support for ESA Ground Segment users
- Addressing real-time issues and anomalies within the Ground Segment
- Processing trouble tickets efficiently
Responsibilities will also involve:
- Contributing to mission and increment reporting logs
- Assisting in defining and implementing Ground Segment requirements
- Preparing and conducting training sessions related to Ground Segment operations
- Developing new operational procedures and maintaining existing ones
- Coordinating interface changes and preparing documentation for tests and simulations
- Supporting Test Readiness Reviews
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A university degree in Engineering or relevant experience in ground segment operations
- A system-oriented mindset
- The ability to collaborate effectively within an international and interdisciplinary team
- Fluency in English; proficiency in German is advantageous
- Experience in Ground Operations is a plus
