Role Summary:

Vishay Siliconix is currently in search of a Vice President of Wafer Fab Operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the front-end wafer fabrication operations both in-house and at foundries on a global scale. Your responsibilities will encompass ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of all wafer production processes, support systems, and equipment. This includes driving continuous improvements in fab operations, such as uptime, production cycle time, yield, and overall productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively contribute to both strategic and operational needs that support business development and operational teams.
  • Evaluate and refine the tool acquisition process to enable the successful implementation of selected technologies.
  • Lead the execution of Unit Process Development in alignment with the Process Technology Roadmap.
  • Establish frameworks for the development or transfer of process technologies across various facilities.
  • Manage relationships with key subcontractors and suppliers that support fab operations, including tools, materials, and chemicals.
  • Engage with industry partners, academic institutions, and national laboratories to stay abreast of the latest advancements and cultivate talent pipelines.
  • Implement a culture of continuous operational enhancement within the Fab Operations team.
  • Ensure that foundries meet the same key performance indicators as internal manufacturing, focusing on yield and cost improvements.
  • Oversee back-metal and back-grinding operations, as well as additional top metal deposition processes when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in material science, chemistry, physics, or electrical engineering is preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of management experience in front-end wafer fabrication, with at least 10 years in a leadership role overseeing engineers, maintenance, and operations.
  • Experience in developing and implementing new fabrication facilities from the ground up is advantageous.
  • Extensive knowledge of 8D, OCAPs, and operational work instructions.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC), fault detection and classification (FDC), and automation systems.
  • Proficient in optimizing work-in-progress management, cycle time, and wafer costs to enhance factory performance.
  • Understanding of fundamental semiconductor processes, including films, diffusion, implant, etch, CMP, cleaning, and photolithography.
  • Proven experience in leading large teams effectively.
  • A strong leader with the ability to foster a collaborative team environment and inspire excellence.
  • Passionate about semiconductor process technology and operations.
