Senior Safety Engineer for Aircraft Systems

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Safety Engineer for Aircraft Systems at ICE Engineering Services GmbH, you will take on a pivotal role in executing comprehensive safety assessments for both systems and aircraft.

Your responsibilities will include the preparation of all necessary certification documentation and safety of flight reports for various aircraft programs, including:

  • Demonstrated expertise in independently conducting and validating safety assessments and documentation, covering safety of flight and certification processes across multiple OEMs from the initial design phase to operational readiness.
  • In-depth technical understanding of aircraft systems integration, including but not limited to flight control, avionics, propulsion, hydraulic systems, landing gear, braking systems, and electrical wiring interconnection systems (EWIS).
  • Proficiency in industry standards such as ARP4754, ARP4761, PRA, Zonal Safety Analysis, CCMR, AFHA, SFHA, PASA, PSSA, SSA, Safety of Flight, FRACAS, FMEA, FMECA, and DAL Allocations.
  • Formulating safety requirements within the broader context of aircraft integration and system interoperability.
  • Leading and facilitating extensive technical integration discussions with key stakeholders from various aircraft systems, flight dynamics, and structural engineering teams to swiftly address safety concerns.
  • Extensive certification knowledge of CS25 and CS29 regulations; candidates with experience as a Safety Certification Verification Engineer (CVE) or equivalent are highly regarded.
Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in aviation or a related discipline.
  • Over 15 years of experience in aircraft safety within leading OEMs, aircraft suppliers, or consulting firms.
  • At least 10 years of experience in signing safety certification documents.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in senior safety engineering roles within OEM safety teams.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in signing safety of flight documentation for flight test vehicles.

Training Capabilities:

  • Proficient in Safety Tools (e.g., CAFTA or equivalent).
  • Knowledgeable in Verification & Validation Tools (e.g., DOORS or equivalent).
  • Experienced with Design Tools (e.g., CATIA V5).
  • Familiar with ARP 4754 & 4761 standards.
  • Understanding of DAL Allocations.
  • Knowledgeable in DO-178B and DO-254 standards.
  • Experienced in FRACAS methodologies.
  • Familiar with FME(C) A processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of working independently while being an effective communicator.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in German is advantageous.
