Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Risk Engineer specializing in Engineering & Construction (E&C) with a background in mechanical or electrical engineering, ideally complemented by experience in the insurance sector. This role is crucial for our E&C division within the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region, where you will provide essential technical guidance to our underwriting teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice to underwriters regarding risk quality, loss projections, and preventive measures related to our E&C portfolio.
- Analyze and summarize submissions, including third-party technical risk assessments.
- Conduct on-site risk evaluations and progress assessments to validate clients' risk management strategies and offer recommendations for enhancements.
- Engage collaboratively with underwriters and various internal and external stakeholders.
This position entails global responsibilities, and our team comprises individuals from diverse professional backgrounds, making it essential to thrive in an international setting.
About the Team:
The RES E&C team is a part of RES Energy, currently consisting of three engineers and an additional contractor in EMEA, along with colleagues in North America and Asia Pacific. Our aim is to expand this team to six to eight members in the coming years.
As a vital member of our global Risk Engineering Services (RES) team, you will become an authority in this specialized industry, contributing to various initiatives and publications focused on best practices, guidelines, and technological advancements.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication skills and a strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
Essential Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the construction sector (design, project leadership, site management, commissioning).
- Experience in the heavy manufacturing domain (construction only; operational experience is a plus).
- Hands-on experience with significant infrastructure and industrial projects.
- Strong familiarity with project management tools (scheduling, budgeting, procurement).
- Interest or experience in loss prevention areas (fire safety, technical risk management, machinery breakdown, construction safety).
- Comprehensive understanding of international loss prevention and fire protection standards (e.g., NFPA or equivalent).
- Proficiency in German and English is required; additional languages are advantageous.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience as an insurance risk engineer at a brokerage or insurance firm is beneficial.
- Project management training or certifications.
- In-depth knowledge of the Insurance E&C sector is an asset.
