Database Systems Engineer

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Database Systems Engineer to join our team at SWARCO. As a key member of our data infrastructure team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our database systems to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement database architectures for MongoDB and PostgreSQL, including replica sets, sharding, and clustering
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Ansible and Terraform for database provisioning, configuration, and deployment
- Monitor and optimize database performance, including query tuning and index management
- Perform capacity planning and scaling of databases to meet the growing needs of the business
- Collaborate with DevOps and development teams to integrate databases with containerized applications
- Ensure system security, patch management, and overall system health
Your Profile
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Extensive knowledge of MongoDB and PostgreSQL, including installation, maintenance, replication, sharding, and backup/restore procedures
- Proficiency in Linux system administration
- Basic understanding of Kubernetes and its role in database management
- Strong scripting and automation skills using Ansible and Terraform
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
