Position Overview:
As a Senior Database Administrator, you will play a critical role in overseeing and managing our database systems, ensuring optimal performance and security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and oversee Postgres and MySQL databases hosted on Google Cloud Platform.
- Continuously monitor database performance and refine queries for enhanced efficiency.
- Guarantee data security and adherence to industry standards and regulations.
- Diagnose and resolve database-related issues while conducting thorough root cause analyses.
- Work closely with development teams to create and implement effective database schemas.
- Establish and uphold robust database backup and recovery strategies.
- Keep abreast of emerging database technologies and industry best practices.
- Provide on-call support for urgent database challenges as necessary.
Candidate Profile:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in database administration, particularly with Postgres and MySQL.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment, with some onsite presence.
- Practical experience in deploying, managing, and scaling Postgres and MySQL databases on Google Cloud SQL.
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform services, including Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, and Cloud IAM.
- Proficient in scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript for automating database tasks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex database challenges.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with developers and other stakeholders.
- Self-motivated with the capability to manage tasks independently while contributing to team efforts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with automation and orchestration tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases like ScyllaDB, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
- Knowledge of migration tools, including Flyway.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with Databricks.
