About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Systems Engineer to join our team at SWARCO. As a key member of our technical team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our database infrastructure to support our business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement database solutions to meet the growing needs of our business
  • Install, configure, and maintain MongoDB and PostgreSQL databases in various setups, including replica sets, sharding, and stand-alone
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and security of database systems
  • Implement and manage backup strategies for MongoDB and PostgreSQL databases
  • Perform regular backups, restore databases as needed, and ensure data integrity
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, including query tuning and index management
  • Perform capacity planning and scaling of databases to meet the growing needs of our business
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Ansible and Terraform for database provisioning, configuration, and deployment
  • Automate routine database tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention
  • Manage and troubleshoot database servers running on Linux-based systems
  • Ensure system security, patch management, and overall system health
  • Understand and implement basic Kubernetes concepts for database deployment and management
  • Collaborate with DevOps and development teams to integrate databases with containerized applications
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures
  • Provide regular reports on database performance, health, and capacity

Requirements

  • University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Extensive knowledge of MongoDB, including installation, maintenance, replication, sharding, and backup/restore procedures
  • Extensive knowledge of PostgreSQL, including installation, maintenance, clustering, and backup/restore procedures
  • Proficiency in Linux system administration
  • Basic understanding of Kubernetes and its role in database management
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using Ansible and Terraform
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Fluent English (written and spoken)
