Lead Specialist in Battery Energy Storage Systems

A Glimpse into Your Role

As a Lead Specialist (f/m/d) in Battery Energy Storage Systems, you will leverage your practical expertise in BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) and EMS (Energy Management System). Your role will involve defining the system architecture, steering towards a viable concept and final product while mentoring, training, and motivating our BESS team to develop top-tier products.

Your Contributions
  • Utilize your extensive knowledge of converter and/or battery technology to collaborate with the software team, ensuring functionalities are in sync with the developed algorithms during validation.
  • Design, develop, and implement control algorithms for the Battery Energy Management System to enhance battery charging, discharging, and overall system health.
  • Oversee the EMS control software lifecycle, including troubleshooting, rigorous testing, and continuous optimization for peak performance.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate the BEMS control system with battery and inverter hardware, ensuring compatibility and functionality.
  • Establish and implement sensor and communication protocols to facilitate real-time battery data acquisition and monitoring, providing essential insights into system performance.
  • Employ data analytics to discern performance trends, anticipate potential degradation issues, and drive ongoing improvements in Battery Energy Management System efficiency.
  • Stay informed on the latest advancements in battery technology and Battery Energy Management System control strategies to maintain cutting-edge solutions.
Your Qualifications
  • A completed university degree in electrical engineering with a specialization in power system controls.
  • Extensive professional experience in plant control, inverter control, and EMS, particularly in the BESS domain.
  • Strong market knowledge in BESS EMS and secondary controls of inverter systems.
  • In-depth experience in software engineering with SPPA-T3000, PCS7, or a similar operating environment.
  • Proficient in prototype design, programming, debugging, and validation/verification of developed algorithms.
  • Commitment to sharing knowledge among colleagues as a key to developing innovative concepts.
  • A hands-on approach and experience in EMS and controls testing.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in German is a plus.
