Your New Role

The primary focus of this position will be on sales and business development initiatives aimed at fostering relationships with key Utility and Transmission System Operator (TSO) clients. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire sales process for significant tenders, particularly within the German market and its neighboring regions.

Projects will generally involve high voltage cable systems and will be of a turn-key nature, encompassing major underground cable systems, interconnectors between countries, and export cable connections for offshore wind projects aimed at enhancing national transmission grids.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and cultivate business opportunities for high voltage land and submarine cable systems within designated markets, striving to meet or surpass established sales targets.
  • Take the lead in tender preparations and actively engage in contract negotiations with clients.
  • Execute defined sales strategies to secure profitable business, build robust relationships with market stakeholders, and uncover new revenue opportunities.
  • Attain comprehensive knowledge of the designated markets, including their characteristics, trends, key clients, competitors, and other market participants.
  • Develop and maintain regular reports related to the tender phase, along with all pertinent sales, market, and competitor activities.
  • Analyze and collaborate with contract requirements and conditions.
  • Prepare relevant Third Party Agreements/Request for Approval as per group standards; nurture and sustain long-term client relationships, ensuring they receive exceptional customer service.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Proven experience as a Sales Manager in industry-related projects across various sectors and clients, or a technical background complemented by a strong commercial perspective.
  • A proactive business development mindset, with hands-on experience in managing existing and new customer accounts.
  • Excellent communication and marketing skills, comfortable interfacing with customers and third parties, and capable of public speaking at seminars, exhibitions, and conferences.
  • Language proficiency: Fluent in German and English.
  • A problem-solving attitude with a target-oriented approach.
  • A keen interest in rapidly learning and assuming responsibility.
  • Ability to engage with all levels of client and contractor organizations, including senior management.
  • Experience in managing complex and high-value bids, involving both internal and external stakeholders from various functions within the organization.
  • An engineering background, with the ability to discuss initial engineering issues with clients.
  • A pragmatic approach to setting and managing priorities effectively.
  • A commitment to resolving customer complaints and taking appropriate actions to ensure customer retention.
  • A team-oriented mindset, capable of sharing knowledge, networking, and exchanging ideas with colleagues.
  • Willingness to travel frequently and extensively, primarily within Europe.
