Position Overview

This Master’s thesis presents a unique opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research within the realm of pharmaceutical sciences, focusing on microfluidics-based advanced in-vitro models (AIM). These models utilize sophisticated cell cultures, offering potentially superior accuracy compared to traditional animal testing methods. The growing emphasis on reducing animal experimentation further underscores the relevance of this research.

Project Aim

The primary goal of this project is to enhance the analytical capabilities of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, enabling the simultaneous examination of multiple samples. This advancement will facilitate high-throughput analysis, providing critical insights into the life processes of AIM.

Project Phases

  1. Design and fabricate a microfluidic insert compatible with widely used biological culture systems.
  2. Construct a prototype injector system for integration with an NMR spectrometer.
  3. Execute a proof-of-concept study to demonstrate the high-throughput functionality of the developed system within an NMR environment.
