About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced credit analyst to join our EU-Based Financial Institutions team at Scope Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing a portfolio of European financial institutions, providing expert recommendations and communication with issuers, investors, and journalists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth analysis and research on a portfolio of European financial institutions, including banks and non-bank financial institutions.
  • Lead rating committee discussions, providing expert recommendations and communication with issuers, investors, and journalists.
  • Monitor existing ratings and recommend reviews and changes as necessary.
  • Produce high-quality, insightful, and forward-looking research and analytical comments on a timely basis.
  • Attend and lead meetings with bank representatives, including senior management.
  • Represent Scope Group's expertise to investors and other market participants, providing presentations and briefings at a highly professional level.
  • Contribute to the development of Scope Group's methodologies.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience in bank credit analysis, gained in a credit rating agency, bank, or buy-side institution.
  • Excellent familiarity with numbers and accounting concepts applicable to banks, as well as financial and prudential ratios and other metrics relevant for bank analysis.
  • Extensive knowledge of bank debt instruments and their characteristics.
  • Proven ability and willingness to write high-quality and insightful research and comments on a timely basis with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and German, with other European languages a plus.
  • Proficient use of Office applications, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with expertise in PowerBI a strong plus.
  • Intellectually curious, analytically rigorous, and a keen interest in taking ownership and responsibility of multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Confident and professional appearance, high social and communication skills, and a team player with a fun and collaborative attitude.
