Director - Financial Institutions
We are seeking a proficient German-speaking credit analyst to enhance our EU-Based Financial Institutions division. This role presents a distinctive opportunity to engage with a vibrant and cooperative team environment, contributing to the achievements of the foremost EU-based rating agency.
Your primary responsibility will involve overseeing a portfolio of both solicited and unsolicited ratings for banks and non-bank financial entities, alongside the assignment of new ratings as Scope's coverage expands. You will serve as the subject matter expert for your designated portfolio, representing the team and Scope in interactions with issuers, investors, regulators, and the media, while regularly producing research to enhance Scope's brand visibility.
This position is both challenging and fulfilling, carrying significant responsibilities and reporting directly to the Managing Director. Your Responsibilities- Conduct evaluations and research on a portfolio of European financial institutions.
- Lead discussions in rating committees, responsible for rating recommendations and communication with issuers, investors, and media representatives.
- Monitor existing ratings and recommend timely reviews and adjustments as necessary.
- Produce high-quality, insightful, and forward-looking research and analytical commentary on a timely basis (thematic, name-specific, market-specific, etc.).
- Act as the lead rating analyst in meetings with bank representatives, including senior management.
- Effectively represent Scope Ratings' expertise to investors and other market participants, delivering presentations and briefings at a highly professional level.
- Contribute to the development of Scope's methodologies.
- Over 10 years of relevant professional experience in bank credit analysis, acquired in a credit rating agency, banking institution, or buy-side firm.
- Strong familiarity with financial metrics and accounting principles applicable to banks (IFRS and other systems), as well as financial and prudential ratios relevant to bank analysis. Good understanding of EU banking regulations and industry trends.
- Extensive knowledge of bank debt instruments and their characteristics.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to produce high-quality and insightful research and commentary promptly with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German; proficiency in other European languages is advantageous.
- Proficient in Office applications, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; expertise in PowerBI is a strong plus.
- Intellectually curious, analytically rigorous, and eager to take ownership of multiple projects under tight deadlines, involving both independent and collaborative work.
- Possess a confident and professional demeanor with strong social and communication skills.
- Maintain composure under pressure, demonstrating accountability, reliability, and the highest professional integrity.
