About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Institutions Analyst to join our team at Scope Group. As a key member of our EU-Based Financial Institutions team, you will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing a portfolio of European financial institutions, conducting ratings and research, and providing expert advice to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth analysis of financial institutions, including banks and non-bank financial institutions
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the European banking sector, including regulatory requirements and industry trends
- Lead rating committee discussions and provide expert recommendations on ratings and research
- Produce high-quality, insightful research and analytical comments on a timely basis
- Represent Scope Group's expertise to investors and other market participants, including senior management
- Contribute to the development of Scope Group's methodologies and guidelines
Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience in the field of bank credit analysis, gained in a credit rating agency, bank, or buy-side institution
- Excellent familiarity with numbers and accounting concepts applicable to banks (IFRS and other systems as necessary), as well as with financial and prudential ratios and other metrics relevant for bank analysis
- Extensive knowledge of bank debt instruments and their characteristics
- Proven ability and willingness to write high-quality and insightful research and comments on a timely basis with minimal supervision
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and German, with other European languages a plus
- Proficient use of Office applications, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with expertise in PowerBI a strong plus
- Intellectually curious, analytically rigorous, and a keen interest in taking ownership and responsibility of multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Confident and professional appearance, high social and communication skills, and ability to work effectively in a team
