Director - Financial Institutions
We are seeking a proficient German-speaking credit analyst to become a vital part of our EU-Based Financial Institutions division. This role presents a remarkable opportunity to engage with a vibrant and collaborative team culture, contributing to the achievements of the leading EU-based rating agency.
Your primary responsibility will be to oversee a designated portfolio of both solicited and unsolicited ratings for banking and non-banking financial institutions. As Scope's coverage expands, you will also be tasked with assigning new ratings. You will serve as the subject matter expert for your designated area, representing the team and Scope in interactions with issuers, investors, regulators, and the media. Additionally, you will regularly produce research to enhance Scope's brand visibility.
This position is both challenging and rewarding, carrying significant responsibilities and reporting directly to the Managing Director. Your Responsibilities- Conduct ratings and research on a portfolio of European financial institutions.
- Lead discussions in rating committees, being accountable for rating recommendations and communications with issuers, investors, and journalists.
- Monitor existing ratings and timely recommend reviews and adjustments as necessary.
- Produce high-quality, insightful, and forward-looking research and analytical commentary on a timely basis (thematic, name-specific, market-specific, etc.).
- Act as the lead rating analyst in meetings with bank representatives, including senior management.
- Effectively represent Scope Ratings' expertise to investors and other market participants, delivering presentations and briefings at a highly professional level.
- Contribute to the development of Scope's methodologies.
- Over 10 years of relevant professional experience in bank credit analysis, acquired in a credit rating agency, bank, or buy-side institution.
- Strong familiarity with numerical data and accounting principles applicable to banks (IFRS and other systems as necessary), alongside financial and prudential ratios and metrics pertinent to bank analysis. Good understanding of EU banking regulations and industry trends.
- Extensive knowledge of bank debt instruments and their characteristics.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to produce high-quality and insightful research and commentary with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German; proficiency in other European languages is advantageous.
- Proficient in Office applications, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; expertise in PowerBI is considered a strong asset.
- Intellectually curious, analytically rigorous, and eager to take ownership of multiple projects under tight deadlines, involving both independent and collaborative work.
