Team Overview
The Chief Risk Office (CRO) at DWS serves as an independent entity focused on safeguarding the organization from significant losses while acting as a trusted advisor to facilitate sustainable growth. Within the CRO, the Financial Risk Management team is dedicated to assessing the risks associated with DWS as a publicly traded entity. This encompasses investments in alternative and liquid assets, credit and counterparty risks, as well as liquidity, foreign exchange, guarantees, pensions, and compensation-related risks. The team also proactively identifies and evaluates emerging risks in close collaboration with our global Macro Research team.
We operate as a compact team with a global perspective, and our decisions directly influence the risk posture of DWS Group. We seek a capable candidate who possesses the expertise and drive to manage risk positions and oversee relevant hedging strategies within our comprehensive risk framework and regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
As a Risk Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying, evaluating, and monitoring equity, credit, and foreign exchange market risks associated with DWS's balance sheet positions, along with corresponding hedging strategies and underlying risk factors.
- Facilitating informed decision-making and approvals concerning these risks.
- Collaborating with senior stakeholders across Business and Finance to implement an effective risk management process.
- Developing comprehensive stress tests and risk scenarios in partnership with analysts and specialists within DWS.
- Establishing and enhancing a robust risk and control framework for the relevant risk categories.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- Several years of hands-on experience in analyzing equity, credit, or foreign exchange market risks.
- Strong quantitative abilities, particularly in applying statistical and financial models to diverse datasets and interpreting results meaningfully.
- In-depth knowledge of investment products and familiarity with balance sheet analysis.
- A university degree in Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- A keen intellectual curiosity and a commitment to making a significant impact.
- The ability to meet deadlines effectively.
