Job Title: Head of Carbon Project Development

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead our Carbon Project Development Team. As Head of Carbon Project Development, you will be responsible for the team's strategy, origination, financing, development, and operation of a portfolio of forestry, agriculture, and renewable energy projects. You will also serve as the main contact point for customers, identifying their needs and providing suitable solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Carbon Project Development Team, guiding up to 10 cross-functional team members
  • Coordinate project planning, timelines, financing, and reporting for a comprehensive carbon project portfolio
  • Develop strategic portfolio planning in terms of volume and cost expectations
  • Manage origination activities for new project development opportunities
  • Interface between project development and other supporting teams, as well as with customers
  • Prepare and present project opportunities to the investment committee
  • Proactively network with relevant organizations, project owners, developers, technology providers, industry associations, multilateral organizations, government agencies, and others
  • Participate in relevant events and conferences to expand the existing project partner network
Requirements
  • At least 7+ years of experience in the field of climate change, preferably with experience in project management and development of CDM, VCS, and Gold Standard projects and methodologies
  • At least 5+ years of experience as a team or department head
  • Entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong network of project developers, consultants, standards, and investors in the field of climate projects
  • Experience in coordinating multiple complex projects and portfolio planning
  • Enthusiasm for approaching new project partners, generating new business opportunities, closing deals, and expanding professional networks
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to lead and guide an interdisciplinary and multicultural team
  • Excellent customer orientation and experience in key account management
  • Excellent communication skills in English, German is a plus
