Job Title: Head of Carbon Project Development

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead our Carbon Project Development Team. As Head of Carbon Project Development, you will be responsible for the team's strategy, origination, financing, development, and operation of a portfolio of forestry, agriculture, and renewable energy projects. You will also serve as the main contact point for customers, identifying their needs and providing suitable solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Carbon Project Development Team, guiding up to 10 cross-functional team members
  • Coordinate project planning, timelines, financing, and reporting for a comprehensive carbon project portfolio
  • Develop strategic portfolio planning to meet volume and cost expectations
  • Manage origination activities for new project development opportunities
  • Interface between project development and other supporting teams, as well as with customers
  • Prepare and present project opportunities to the investment committee
  • Establish and maintain relationships with project owners, developers, technology providers, industry associations, multilateral organizations, government agencies, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Participate in industry events and conferences to expand the project partner network
Requirements
  • At least 7+ years of experience in climate change, preferably with project management and development experience in CDM, VCS, and Gold Standard projects and methodologies
  • At least 5+ years of experience as a team or department head
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and strong network of project developers, consultants, standards, and investors in the field of climate projects
  • Experience in coordinating multiple complex projects and portfolio planning
  • Excellent leadership skills, ability to lead and guide an interdisciplinary and multicultural team
  • Strong customer orientation and experience in key account management
  • Excellent communication skills in English, German is a plus
