HIRING DIRECTOR OF SALES OPERATIONS FOR GERMANY

We are in search of a dynamic and strategic Director of Sales Operations to lead our sales initiatives in Germany. This position presents an exciting opportunity to manage a skilled sales team dedicated to promoting a distinctive ophthalmic product. You will utilize your leadership capabilities and industry knowledge to enhance growth within the German market. Your role will involve guiding and motivating our sales personnel, providing clear direction, coaching, and support to optimize performance while nurturing a collaborative and successful culture.

As the Director of Sales Operations, you will be responsible for crafting and implementing our business strategy, establishing and meeting annual sales objectives, and cultivating strong relationships with key opinion leaders, payers, and other essential stakeholders. Your strategic insights will be crucial in driving innovation and sustainable growth for our organization.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the Sales Team (Clinical Account Specialists/Fachreferenten Ophthalmologie) Develop and implement a business strategy for Alimera's products in the designated region, including annual sales goals Build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders and other significant market access stakeholders Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners within the German organization, EU hub, and global headquarters Act as a vital member of the German Leadership Team

Drive Growth in the German Market

Ensure that sales targets for Alimera's products are achieved through the effective use of all relevant sales and market access tools, adhering to established budgets. Foster a positive, collaborative, and proactive culture within Alimera Sciences Germany. Work in conjunction with the Country Manager and relevant roles to oversee rebate contracts with key payers and strategic chains. Ensure that Alimera's products are included in specific contracts with physician associations through effective stakeholder management. Provide strategic contributions to annual and long-term business plans.

Lead the Sales Team in Germany

Offer clear and inspiring leadership to all Clinical Account Specialists, coaching the team towards optimal performance through regular joint visits and face-to-face meetings. Set appropriate objectives with all team members to achieve the best possible outcomes. Ensure effective collaboration and communication with cross-functional partners in the German organization, EU hub, and global headquarters. Maintain personal conduct in accordance with relevant legal and compliance regulations and serve as a role model.

Enhance the Sales Organization

Collaborate effectively with the EU Hub, particularly with the VP of Sales, and counterparts in the UK and Portugal. Ensure effectiveness at the customer interface by coaching on sales force effectiveness topics, such as proper call planning and documentation. Ensure proper segmentation and targeting for effective account planning. Develop and strengthen relationships with key opinion leaders and other important stakeholders.

Manage Sales and Market Access

Oversee the sales budget for Germany. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of Alimera's products, market dynamics, key competitors, and commercial strategies. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create relevant market access value propositions. Develop national pricing and market access strategies for existing and new products in conjunction with the Country Manager. Manage forecasts to prevent stock shortages in collaboration with the Country Manager and Operations & Supply Chain. Engage with management and the Betriebsrat on sales-related matters. Attend national and international conferences and medical education events related to assigned products.

Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years of business experience in a healthcare setting. At least 5 years of pharmaceutical sales experience, including two years in a regional sales management role with a proven track record of achieving targets. Certified Pharmareferent according to § 75 AMG. Knowledge of the market access environment in the IVOM sector in Germany is preferred. A university degree in Business or Life Sciences is advantageous, along with experience in Ophthalmology. Familiarity with sales force effectiveness topics.

Knowledgeable about and compliant with relevant legislation and guidelines for selling high-value niche specialist products. Native German speaker; fluent in English with strong communication skills in both languages. Willingness to travel regularly within the assigned territories, with some international travel as needed.
