Quantum Simulation Researcher

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join our team at the Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) in Cologne. As a Student (m/d/f) in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics or similar, you will have the opportunity to work on a Master Thesis project focused on Theoretical Methods for Hybrid Quantum Simulation of non-Adiabatic Molecular Dynamics.
Key Responsibilities- Implement hybrid algorithms for the simulation of molecular dynamics, where the nuclear structure is considered classically and only the electronic structure is propagated on the quantum computer.
- Develop and test new and innovative approaches for the simulation of molecular dynamics, including different fermion-to-qubit mappings and lattice encodings.
- Collaborate with a physicist and a chemical engineer to supervise and carry out the thesis project.
- Ongoing Master studies in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics or Chemistry.
- Familiarity with the use of Python.
- Extensive knowledge in the field of quantum mechanics.
- Basic knowledge on quantum computer is beneficial but not necessary.
- Knowledge of German and very good knowledge of written and spoken English.
