Role Overview

Are you adept at mastering and implementing cutting-edge technologies in digital commerce and marketplaces? Can you engage in enterprise transformation discussions with high-level executives from Fortune 500 companies? Do you possess the ability to mentor team members on emerging technologies while architecting scalable solutions? Are you prepared to collaborate with our delivery managers on the technical dimensions of significant client implementations worldwide? If you have a passion for eCommerce, Marketplaces, Martech, and cloud technologies, and have demonstrated thought leadership, including speaking at industry conferences, we want to hear from you.

The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years of experience in solution architecture, technology deployment, consultative sales, and comprehensive IT systems development and project management. This role requires hands-on leadership for a technical team within a growing services organization. The successful candidate will effectively manage client expectations and communicate proficiently with delivery teams, leading a talented group of engineers as their mentor. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively with teams spread across different locations.

This position offers 100% remote work.

Fluency in the German language is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

Ensure that the solutions provided by McFadyen are well-architected, developed, tested, and delivered effectively. Support business development efforts, including sales presentations and preparing technical proposals with estimated project scopes, costs, durations, and resource requirements. Guarantee client satisfaction throughout project lifecycles. Identify opportunities for business expansion within existing accounts. Assist Delivery Managers and Project Managers in forecasting project staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation.

Additional Responsibilities

Collaborate with sales prospects and current clients to devise innovative technology solutions addressing critical business needs. Clearly articulate solutions and provide cost and timeline estimates in partnership with other McFadyen team members. Inspire a diverse group of energetic team members to achieve their best. Participate in the recruitment of senior technical staff. Conduct performance reviews for some team members. Enhance our DevOps and related infrastructure and processes to improve systems, tools, automation, and methodologies. Foster skill diversification within our team across various technologies, platforms, and business models. Lead the ongoing implementation of new industry standards and development methodologies, including Agile and Kanban, to enhance responsiveness and growth. Maintain a focus on client success. Stay updated on technology trends and advancements driven by personal passion. Recommend best practices based on experience, research, frameworks, design patterns, and visionary insights. Engage with our global team through regular videoconferences and occasional early morning or late evening calls. Drive team certifications and maintain software partner status. Occasionally travel to client or partner sites and relevant conferences. Travel to McFadyen offices to mentor the technical team.

Required Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, RoR, PHP, or C#. Experience with microservices architectures and frameworks like Spring Boot, BFF, MuleSoft, or Apache Service Mix. Familiarity with Cloud Computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases including Oracle, Dynamo, MariaDB, MySQL, or MongoDB. Experience with JavaScript frameworks like Angular, React, or Node.js.

Additional Qualifications

Experience with Progressive Web Applications (PWA) and related technologies. Knowledge of DevOps practices and Infrastructure as Code tools such as CI/CD, Monitoring, and Alerting tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, or Jenkins. Background in eCommerce, marketplaces, cloud solutions, Continuous Integration, DevOps, middleware, mobile, and content management. Familiarity with enterprise eCommerce platforms like Oracle Commerce, Magento, SAP Hybris, or Shopify Plus. Experience integrating commerce solutions with retail software such as ERP, OMS, CRM, or Payment Gateways. Knowledge of marketing technology solutions like marketing automation or Data Management Platforms (DMP) is a plus. Experience with related technologies such as Salesforce Commerce Cloud or Elastic Path is advantageous. Proven ability to architect Microservices-based solutions. Exposure to headless architectures and innovative technologies like AI/ML in retail/eCommerce is beneficial. Strong background in web systems integration. Demonstrated leadership in high-visibility projects. Ability to quickly adapt to new and evolving cloud technologies. Familiarity with various methodologies including Agile/Scrum and Waterfall. Strong management skills in resource planning, setting expectations, and mentoring. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and professionally.
