Overview: The Heavy Equipment Inspector is responsible for conducting both scheduled and unscheduled evaluations of maintenance tasks and repairs on vehicles and machinery.

Key Responsibilities: To excel in this role, the individual must effectively manage the following duties:

Supervise, assist, or perform inspections on various types of wheeled vehicles and equipment at the unit maintenance level. Conduct initial inspections upon equipment delivery, documenting data for maintenance work orders, troubleshooting identified issues, and performing in-process inspections during repair phases. Final inspections are required upon completion of maintenance to ensure quality standards are met. Prepare and maintain inspection records and make them accessible to the Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Department. Ensure that procedures in use are sufficient for effective quality control, reject substandard workmanship and materials, and verify test results on relevant documentation. Provide guidance and technical support to maintenance personnel regarding inspection standards, procedures, and expected quality of work. Ensure adherence to governmental and corporate regulations, as well as company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), directives, and technical manuals to uphold a quality management program. Maintain communication with QA and Logistics Assistance Representatives (LAR). Collaborate with the Shop Supervisor when technical challenges arise that require in-depth mechanical expertise. Participate in cross-training to enhance flexibility and develop technical skills in quality program maintenance. Promote a safety-first culture within work areas to achieve low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries. Comply with ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of the Amentum Quality Management System. Execute additional duties as assigned, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on various wheeled vehicles and equipment, both tactical and non-tactical. Maintain accurate daily timesheets and manning reports. Perform other assigned responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications & Experience: The following qualifications are essential for this position:

High School diploma or equivalent. 1 to 2 years of experience in wheeled vehicle maintenance is required. Preferred experience includes 1 to 2 years as a wheeled vehicle inspector. Full or partial Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification or European equivalent is preferred. Military experience equivalent to Army 91B is preferred. Work experience may substitute for educational requirements, and educational achievements may replace years of experience. Must demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of quality inspection procedures, maintenance documentation, and reporting systems. Familiarity with the scopes and limitations of various maintenance categories and their applications is required. Ability to read, interpret, and utilize complex blueprints, schematic diagrams, and data tables is essential. Capable of conducting thorough technical inspections of contract units and ensuring completed repairs meet specified standards. Ability to instruct and demonstrate proper maintenance techniques and procedures. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be capable of operating a government general-purpose vehicle. Must meet and maintain all base access security requirements. Must meet and maintain all Logistics Information System (LIS) access requirements. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization. Must have or be able to obtain a US Passport.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

Proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English is required. Knowledge of diagnostic tools and forms utilized at the unit level is necessary. Ability to read vehicle and equipment schematics is essential. Must possess the ability to analyze and interpret Army Technical Manuals related to vehicle maintenance and repair.

Additional Requirements:

1) LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS:

A valid driver's license is mandatory.

2) PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The role requires stooping, sitting, kneeling, standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds independently, and 51+ pounds with assistance. Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively for up to a 48-hour work week. Must be able to endure long hours, including overtime as necessary.

3) WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing job duties, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and communicate verbally. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high places, and outdoor weather conditions. There may be exposure to electrical shock risks, vibrations, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and radiation risks. The noise level in the work environment is typically loud. Deployment on missions may be required on short notice at the direction of the Program Management Office (PMO). Proficiency in English is required.
