Master Student Chemistry, Material Science, Physics or Similar: Alternative Materials for CO2 Capture

We are seeking a highly motivated Master Student Chemistry, Material Science, Physics or similar to join our team at the Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) Institute of Future Fuels in Köln. The successful candidate will be responsible for the experimental evaluation of alternative materials for CO2 capture at high temperatures.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research on novel material systems for CO2 capture at high temperatures based on literature
- Synthesize promising materials on a lab scale
- Evaluate the cyclability of the new materials using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA)
- Characterize promising materials with analytical techniques, e.g. XRD, SEM, BET
- University bachelor's degree in chemistry, material science, physics, or similar
- Experience in chemical labs and with the synthesis of materials
- General knowledge of thermodynamics and reaction kinetics
- Independent and structured way of working
- Good communication skills
- Fluent English language skills
- Security clearance as well as the willingness to security clearance pursuant to §§ 8 ff. Security Clearance Act (SÜG) is a condition for employment at DLR
- Experience with thermogravimetric analyzers is a plus
- General knowledge about carbon capture and utilization is a plus
- German language skills are also beneficial
