Master Student in Computational Engineering

We are seeking a highly motivated Master student to join our team at the Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) in Cologne. As a Master student in Computational Engineering, you will play a key role in the development of numerical models for the simulation of heat and mass transport during the cyclic operation of a solar reactor for the production of renewable hydrogen.
Key Responsibilities- Develop a numerical reactor model for the simulation of heat and mass transport during the cyclic operation of the solar reactor
- Validate the model using experimental data from the test setup and compare it with other reactor types from the literature
- Perform a parameter study to optimize the design and operation conditions of the reactor
- Current studies in computational / mechanical / process engineering or science, mathematics, physics or similar
- Skills in the field of numerical (CFD) modeling are required, ideally with OpenFOAM
- Knowledge of thermal and mass transport mechanisms, fluid dynamics and thermodynamics
- Experience with programming (python) and constructing CAD-models is beneficial
