Scientific Officer

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced light microscopy expert to join our team at EMBL.
The successful candidate will work as a scientific officer in the Advanced Light Microscopy Facility (ALMF) and will be responsible for teaching and supporting users in advanced light microscopy technologies.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in life sciences, physics, or engineering, and will have experience in several advanced light microscopy techniques.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Teaching and supporting users in advanced light microscopy technologies
- Developing and implementing new microscopy techniques and methods
- Collaborating with industrial partners to develop custom hardware and software solutions
- Participating in the testing and establishment of cutting-edge microscopy technology equipment
- Organizing and teaching international courses on advanced microscopy techniques
The successful candidate will have a strong team player mentality, excellent communication and organizational skills, and fluency in English.
Professional experience in one or more of the following areas is considered beneficial:
- Biological sample preparation and their application to biological questions
- Previous work in a scientific core facility
- Organization and teaching of training courses
- Microscopy technology development
- Programming skills in languages such as LabView, Matlab, C++, Java, or Python
