Are you driven by the challenge of designing innovative structures for groundbreaking space missions? At Large Space Structures GmbH, we are looking for a passionate and skilled Design Engineer to contribute to our exciting projects, including the development of advanced space hardware.

As a key member of our multicultural team, you will have the opportunity to work on deployable antenna flight and research projects. Your creativity and technical expertise will play a crucial role in shaping the future of space technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and propose innovative design solutions to enhance existing products and influence new designs through comprehensive, data-driven analysis.
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models, part and assembly drawings, and parts lists utilizing SolidWorks.
  • Provide technical guidance on assigned projects, ensuring alignment with technical and scheduling objectives.
  • Foster a collaborative working environment within the Design team, supporting the Lead Design Engineer.
  • Prepare thorough technical reports and actively participate in design discussions and reviews.
  • Compile detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) and collaborate with the Supply Chain Manager to define procurement needs.
  • Take ownership of design processes and engage with project partners to optimize designs and interfaces.
  • Coordinate with the Analysis team to provide necessary inputs for design validation through Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Work closely with the Manufacturing and Assembly Integration Team to provide detailed instructions for production processes.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing design documentation with proper configuration control using SolidWorks PDM.
Qualifications
  • A degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a design engineering role within the aerospace sector.
  • Proficiency in mechanical design, including experience with composite materials and metal components.
  • Fluency in English and German, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex designs and work under tight deadlines.
  • Experience in designing space systems, such as Deployable Structures and Release Mechanisms, is highly advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills and a solution-oriented approach, with excellent communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with technical drawing standards and manufacturing processes.
