Your Role
As a Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in various technical engineering functions related to our projects. Your primary focus will be on CAD design, while also engaging in assembly and integration tasks. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to significant advancements in the space industry.
Key Responsibilities- Develop innovative design solutions to enhance existing products and influence new product development through thorough, data-driven analysis.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models, part and assembly drawings, and comprehensive parts lists utilizing SolidWorks.
- Provide technical expertise on assigned projects, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and project timelines.
- Foster a collaborative environment within the Design team, supporting the Lead Design Engineer in improving workflows and team dynamics.
- Prepare and present detailed technical reports, actively participating in design discussions and reviews.
- Generate precise Bill of Materials (BOM) and collaborate with the Supply Chain Manager to establish procurement needs, ensuring timely delivery of components.
- Take full ownership of design projects, liaising with both internal and external partners to optimize designs and interfaces.
- Work closely with the Analysis team to provide necessary inputs for design validation through Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Coordinate with the Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration, and Test (MAIT) team, supplying detailed work instructions and inputs for production processes.
- Manage incoming and outgoing design documentation with strict configuration control using SolidWorks PDM.
- A degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a design engineering role within the aerospace sector.
- Proficient in English (both written and spoken); knowledge of German is a plus.
- Eligibility to work in the EU without restrictions.
- Ability to quickly grasp complex designs and apply initiative effectively.
- Strong time management skills, capable of meeting tight deadlines while managing project expectations.
- Experience in mechanical design, particularly with composite materials and the design of metal and CFRP components.
- Familiarity with space systems design, including deployable structures and hold-down mechanisms, is highly advantageous.
- Analytical mindset with a collaborative approach and excellent communication skills.
- Solid understanding of technical drawing standards and manufacturing processes.
- Proven technical reporting capabilities and a knack for identifying design optimization opportunities.
