Position Overview

Large Space Structures GmbH is seeking a skilled Mechanical Systems Engineer with extensive expertise in relevant engineering fields and a proven track record in technical roles related to aerospace projects.

As a Mechanical Systems Engineer, you will have the chance to be part of a diverse and dynamic team dedicated to providing innovative solutions and services within the European space industry. You will engage in a multi-disciplinary environment aimed at achieving our technical goals while enhancing our design processes and contributing valuable insights to ongoing projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive technical support for space antenna projects, both for client-funded initiatives and internal research.
  • Oversee and engage with the Systems team throughout all project phases.
  • Offer specialized technical guidance and consultancy for customer-funded projects and studies in system engineering for in-orbit systems across all stages.
  • Participate in feasibility assessments, project evaluations, and procurement proposal reviews.
  • Initiate and manage research and development activities addressing both immediate and long-term needs in deployable antenna systems.
  • Support additional activities within your area of expertise as required.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a design engineering capacity within the aerospace sector.
  • Familiarity with all phases of the system life cycle, including design, analysis, manufacturing, testing, validation, and delivery of space-related antenna systems.
  • Experience in integrating, testing, and verifying subassemblies into complex antenna systems and structures, including their integration onto spacecraft.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-disciplinary teams (mechanical, structural, thermal, power, RF, antenna, electrical, etc.) in developing and executing detailed test plans for space hardware.
  • Experience in guiding multi-disciplinary technical teams through all program phases (initial concept, proposals, reviews, integration, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Root Cause Corrective Action processes and techniques.
  • Experience with requirements derivation and tracking using DOORs, including requirements verification traceability matrices.
