CREDIT RISK MANAGEMENT
The Credit Risk team is tasked with overseeing the firm's credit exposure to its trading and lending counterparties. Credit professionals safeguard the Firm's capital by applying their expertise in financial analysis of clients, markets, and products to make informed risk decisions. POSITION OVERVIEW
The Credit Risk team focusing on Financial Institutions and Workout & Restructuring is seeking a Senior Analyst / Associate. The team's responsibilities include managing the risk associated with a portfolio of clients in the EMEA Financial Institutions sector, as well as overseeing the firm's distressed and defaulted credit positions to optimize recoveries.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluate the creditworthiness and financial stability of the firm's Financial Institution and CCP counterparts through in-depth credit analysis. Review and authorize derivative and lending transactions, ensuring proper documentation and risk mitigants are in place to protect against defaults and minimize potential losses. Monitor credit trends among financial market participants, proactively escalating issues and advising the management team as necessary. Support the governance framework for counterparty credit risk at GS Bank Europe. Oversee the performance of Watch List counterparties, ensuring compliance with terms, covenants, and repayment schedules. Coordinate activities related to emergency drills, review of workout cases, and escalation to senior management as needed. Improve policies and procedures in areas such as early warnings, closeout, and default management. Develop expertise in bankruptcy and distressed credit management, participating in the formulation of workout strategies and discussions for approvals. Engage with auditors and regulators as part of the ongoing oversight process in counterparty credit risk management.REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in Financial Institutions, specifically in counterparty credit risk management, fixed income research, or other credit analyst roles. Strong understanding of the fundamentals of financial institutions, including banks, CCPs, broker-dealers, finance companies, or insurers. Knowledge of derivatives, funding, and lending products, along with related trading and lending documentation (e.g., ISDA/CSA, MRA, credit agreements). Familiarity with regulatory requirements and practices in counterparty credit risk governance and distressed credit risk management.FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES
