Sustainability Advisor for Energy Efficiency Programs

Overview: The Programme for Energy Efficiency in Buildings (PEEB) is dedicated to revolutionizing the construction sector by advocating for sustainable and resilient architectural design and building practices. This initiative merges financing for energy-efficient large-scale projects with technical support through policy guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop essential services to be executed in country-specific components, collaborating closely with local teams.
- Act as the primary support contact within the headquarters team for various countries.
- Serve as the knowledge hub for the project and externally on critical topics related to the transition in buildings, such as financing, adaptation, and building materials, contributing to international agenda-setting and project execution.
- Manage donor relations by assisting in project oversight through reporting and organizing governance meetings.
- Engage in international outreach and agenda-setting, particularly at climate change conferences and within the GlobalABC framework.
Qualifications:
- A university degree in architecture, energy efficiency, urban planning, climate science, environmental studies, or political science, relevant to sustainability in buildings.
- Considerable professional experience with financial institutions or policy advisory roles, ideally in partner countries; familiarity with establishing and managing large-scale contracts.
- Extensive work experience in partner countries.
- In-depth understanding of global energy and climate challenges in the building sector.
- Strong organizational, planning, and self-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks, solve problems, meet deadlines, and maintain high-quality standards.
- A collaborative team player, proactive and inquisitive, capable of thriving in a multicultural environment.
- Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in German and either French or Spanish is required.
Additional Information:
This position can be offered on a full-time or part-time basis. Frequent business travel is expected.
Employees may be required to undertake assignments at various GIZ locations, both domestically and internationally.
