About the Position

We are seeking a highly qualified Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the ifo Institut - Leibniz-Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung an der Universität München e.V. in Munich, Germany.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in the field of economics of migration and integration, as well as development economics, to contribute to solutions for current societal challenges using applied econometric analyses.
  • Conceive, acquire, manage, and work on third-party funded projects.
  • Provide guidance for doctoral candidates.
  • Publish research results in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals.
  • Make research results accessible to the general public.
Requirements
  • A degree in economics with a focus on the economics of migration, labor economics, applied microeconomics, or a related field, and completion of a PhD by the start date or be close to completing it.
  • Proven knowledge and experience through articles in internationally recognized refereed journals or working papers suitable for publication.
  • In-depth knowledge of methods of microeconometrics and applied economics.
  • Experience in working with big data and machine learning methods is an asset.
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken, to interact confidently in the international network of researchers.
  • Knowledge of the German language is an advantage.
  • A team player with a willingness to take responsibility for oneself and others.

What We Offer
  • An initial three-year employment contract, with the option to be extended.
  • A salary according to TV-L E 13 or E 14 (around 63,000 EUR incl. special annual payment) depending on publications, and participation in the company pension scheme (VBL) in addition to the statutory pension insurance.
  • Support in professional and personal development with flexible working hours, the possibility of mobile work, and many tailored training and development programs.
  • Relocation allowance after passing the probationary period if moving to Munich or the surrounding area from a radius of 200 km or more.
  • Support with German courses if needed.
