Position Overview

Imperial Brands PLC is seeking a Senior Researcher to enhance our Sensory and Consumer Science Team. This role is pivotal in driving consumer research initiatives aimed at uncovering insights into consumer preferences, behaviors, and experiences.

Your primary responsibility will be to analyze consumer perceptions, preferences, and decision-making processes concerning our product offerings. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders will be essential to inform product development, innovation, and marketing strategies grounded in consumer insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary sensory contact for both internal and external stakeholders across designated product categories, managing specific projects across various categories.
  • Facilitate the transfer of knowledge and provide consultancy on appropriate sensory methodologies to stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business objectives and budget management while staying abreast of advancements in Sensory Science.
  • Act as an intermediary between consumer perceptions and client requirements (Marketing, Manufacturing) from a sensory market perspective.
  • Provide training and methodology transfer to agencies for conducting standardized sensory research.
  • Initiate, implement, review, and optimize innovative consumer research tools and methodologies in close collaboration with the research manager.
  • Oversee the design and execution of sensory research for both qualitative and quantitative consumer studies, including leading research efforts within the dedicated consumer center facility.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven expertise in sensory product and market research, with a strong understanding of the interaction between products and consumers.
  • Proficiency in both German and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of statistical analysis and market research methodologies, along with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and statistical software (SAS/SPSS, XLStat).
  • Strong analytical thinking and project management capabilities, with a focus on stakeholder engagement.
  • Exceptional teamwork and prioritization skills, demonstrating a curious, adaptable, and organized approach to managing multiple projects simultaneously.
