Sustainability Advisor for Building Efficiency

Position Overview: The Programme for Energy Efficiency in Buildings (PEEB) is dedicated to revolutionizing the construction sector by advocating for sustainable and resilient architectural design and building practices. PEEB integrates funding for energy-efficient large-scale projects with expert guidance through policy advisory services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop essential services to be executed in country-specific components, collaborating closely with local teams.
- Act as the primary support contact within the headquarters team for country-related matters.
- Serve as a knowledge resource within the project and externally on pivotal topics related to the transition in the building sector, such as financing, adaptation strategies, and building materials.
- Manage donor relations by contributing to project oversight through reporting and organizing governance meetings.
- Engage in international outreach and agenda-setting, particularly at climate change conferences and within the GlobalABC framework.
Qualifications:
- A university degree in architecture, energy efficiency, urban planning, climate science, environmental studies, or political science, with a focus on sustainability in the building sector.
- Considerable professional experience with financial institutions or policy advisory roles, ideally in partner countries, including experience in establishing and managing large-scale contracts.
- Extensive work experience in partner countries.
- In-depth understanding of global energy and climate challenges within the building sector.
- Strong organizational, planning, and self-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks, solve problems, meet deadlines, and maintain high-quality standards.
- A collaborative team player, proactive and inquisitive, capable of thriving in a multicultural environment.
- Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
- Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in German and either French or Spanish is required.
Additional Information:
This position offers flexibility for full or part-time engagement. Frequent business travel is expected, and employees may be assigned to various GIZ locations both domestically and internationally.
